This page shows a list of all the members of the
Solaris System, as well as describing their personalities, roles within the system, interests, and more. We are, in general, quite similar to one another, and you may not even notice – at least in real life – when you are talking to a different member. Our interests, frequently, overlap; even if one member may prefer things which another does not enjoy quite to the same degree.
However, each of us definitely has their own quirks and often their own way of speaking (or lack thereof, in the case of Bastion). We share most of our memories and tend to share the feelings we have for others; therefore, if you are friends with one of us, you can typically assume that you are friends with all of us.
We will not take offence if you refer to us using the name of our main fronter and host, Hex, though we – of course – much prefer being referred to by our own names if you are aware that you are talking to someone else. To find out who is currently fronting, you can open front.heliacal.systems for up-to-date information!
Hexaitos (though most folk just call it “Hex”) is a dragon shapeshifter/polytherian (non-binary/kingender). It is the host and main fronter of the system and the creature you are most likely to interact with on a day-to-day basis. It typically prefers being referred to as “it/its,” though (depending on its current shift) it will also use “she/her” or “he/him.”
Like all other members of this system, Hex is a shapeshifter and does not have a set form. It has, however, begun using its dragon form as its main form, though it is far from the only form it has; aside from a variety of kintypes, it enjoys – though more briefly – taking on various other animal forms.
It is interested in computers and likes tinkering with both software and hardware. It mainly uses Linux or other *nix systems (especially OpenBSD). It self-hosts a whole bunch of stuff as well, and it is a chronic domain hoarder (too many project ideas and too little time…). It also really likes birds, taking walks, learning languages, and taking photos. It does a bit of gaming from time to time. It is also interested in old/ancient things and knows some Ancient Greek and used to learn Ancient Egyptian.
It also does some programming from time to time and is currently working on a Pokédex website called Theriodex, and it also has its own personal website with a blog about technology and a bunch of other stuff.
Hex can be quite shy, anxious, and worried, and might often ask for reassurance, and it often gets overwhelmed easily. Once you get to know it, however, it can become quite talkative. You are always welcome to contact it, however, and it always enjoys hearing from other critters.
Anubis is comparatively new but has already established Himself as the guide and protector of the system as well as the second most common fronter. He appeared at the beginning of 2026 and has been around quite a bit since, having shaken up a few routines and dynamics already (for example, it is now usually He who sleeps and wakes up in the morning as opposed to Hex).
His exact role in the system is rather personal, and if you wish to know more about it, you should ask either Him yourself or one of the other members – though beware that we may not answer unless we know you well. However, suffice it to say that He very much is Anubis and wishes to be referred to in that manner; He is not an Anubis-like jackal or anything of the sort, He simply is Anubis.
Anubis has established Himself – as mentioned previously – as the guide and protector of this system, as well as a rather prolific member who is good at simply “getting things done.” He is thorough, pays great attention to detail, and can be quite verbose. He frequently works together with Hex on either personal projects or even work-related things.
His speaking style may take some getting used to. He tends to avoid emoticons or emoji (though He does, at times, use them) and does not generally show His emotions quite as outwardly as the other members might; it simply does not (yet!) come naturally to Him, though He does want to get better at it (and already has).
He enjoys lengthy and thoughtful discussions on a variety of subjects but is especially interested in philosophy and spirituality, religion, and mythology. He is very sensitive to loud noises and generally prefers the quiet. His music tastes differ quite substantially from those of the other members, and He typically prefers listening to calmer, melodic music such as lute music by John Dowland. He also enjoys creating art and has been making a lot of logos and emoji for us.
He is also very interested in computers and technology and has been the main driving force behind our Mastodon server as well as our new system websites and our new Git forge.
Additionally, He has already started becoming a very active fronter, and we are expecting Him to either keep up this level of fronting time or, perhaps, even increase it in the near future. Especially when it comes to work, it seems as though He will take on a lot of responsibility. Hex and Anubis are currently at 60% vs. 40%, respectively, regarding fronting time percentage.
He enjoys meditating and often does so before sleeping. He is quite approachable and not shy whatsoever, and you are always welcome to shoot Him a message to His email (anubis@jnpw.net) or on His Mastodon (@anubis@social.jnpw.net).
Bastion is a big black wolf, about the size of a car. He is the system member who fronts the least and there have been a number of rather unfortunate events in his history. It is very unlikely you will ever talk to Bastion in real life, though you may see him write a message to you every now and then. He is entirely nonverbal and can only really bark or whine – he can, however, type!
Bastion is very energetic and outgoing and should be quite easily approachable when he is around. He can be very silly and scatterbrained as well as simply very hyperactive in general. He can struggle with longer conversations (though once in a blue moon he is able to have one) and typically fronts for less than an hour at a time.
